The opening ceremony was at No. 1 diamond Wan-Shou Stadium. The temperature was a very hot 33 degrees celcius. It was a little long & the team started to struggle in the heat. Kiwi ingenuity came to the fore & players sneaked off two at a time to get their water bottles. After a while the other teams followed our lead.
Chinese Taipei played Guam for the first game. Our team went back to the hotel to watch the game on TV. Some hardy parents stayed & watched. It was extremely noisy. Last we heard Guam were down 3 nil bottom of the third. There was some controversy about a bat that Chinese Taipei were using.
